Fan Experience & Takeaways

The boys were buzzin’ in this one. With 21,000+ in attendance, the Bobcats put on a show, routing Eastern Michigan 52-27. The defense started slow, allowing 17 points in the first half, but settled in after halftime and conceded just 10 the rest of the way (all in the fourth) with a comfortable lead. Tackling will need to tighten up heading into this week’s matchup with UTSA.

Brad Jackson put to rest any questions about his readiness to lead, connecting with Beau Sparks for four touchdowns. Texas State’s offensive line, touted earlier this year as the heaviest in the NCAA, didn’t disappoint, paving the way for 392 rushing yards and three scores. Senior Lincoln Pare led the way with 167 yards and a touchdown in an impressive opener.

To cap a great night, President Kelly Damphousse and his wife led the Bobcats onto the field on his motorcycle, and fans were treated to a drone show at halftime and after the game as Texas State looks ahead to joining the Pac-12.
